What experience will help you in this job?
I have been an employee for six years in this city and interacted with all departments during my tenure. I have heard the concerns of employees and department heads alike. As a concerned community member, I participated on the executive committee for the Oakcliff Improvement Group from 2002-2004. I have been a partner of Buckhead Investment Group for six years and am a charter member of Kiwanis Club Doraville.

If elected, what will be your priorities?
1. What’s the best thing an elected official in the post you are seeking can do for your community?
To keep in touch with residents’ concerns. To help elderly residents with problems regarding quality-of-life issues. To work with mayor and council on city issues in a professional manor.

If you were stranded on a deserted island, what one thing (not a person) would you want to have?
I would want a fully-stocked sailboat. If I had this one thing I would no longer be stranded. I would sail off into the sunset.

I am a Doraville RESIDENT and Your NEIGHBOR Too!!

October 25, 2007 · Leave a Comment

My desicion to run for Doraville City Council is based on my Love for this city.  I have lived in Doraville for many years.  My mother lives here as well.  We have historically enjoyed much more pleasant living conditions, and quality of life right here in the city.

Over the past few years though, it seems that our quality of life has deteriorated.  It seems that city services are not what they used to be.  It seems that our elected officials are not as responsive as they used to be.

My decision to run is based on my heartfelt committment to making Doraville “….a nice place to live” – again.

I need your support to make this happen.  I am NOT a career politician, nor am I “in the pockets” of anyone.  I DO NOT play dirty politics, I DO NOT believe in slamming my opponent just for the sake of winning.

I DO believe in responsive govertment; I DO believe in working for the betterment of ALL Doraville residents.

I will ALWAYS be just an email or phone call away.

Remember to exercise your right to vote and put me, CLINT J. HOWARD, your neighbor and your voice in that council chair for District 3.

Thanks, Clint

Security of the fuel storage facilities in Doraville.

October 24, 2007 · Leave a Comment

As your councilman I will work to keep the Doraville fuel storage facilities safe.

The city needs to review its emergency procedures and evacuation routes in case of terrorist attack or explosion and fire due to accidental or natural disasters.   How secure are the facilities?  Are there video monitoring or armed guards patrolling  the  facilities?  The city needs to implement mock tests of all types; and learn from their mistakes before a real  catastrophe happens.

Curbside Recycling

October 21, 2007 · Leave a Comment

As your councilman I will work to bring the right type of curbside recycling to the residents of Doraville.

The right type of recycling will generate revenue for the city and help lower our taxes and improve our environment. At the last city hall meeting 10/08/07 councilwoman Donna Pittman & Marlene Hadden introduced curbside recycling having  Advanced Disposal Inc doing the job.  Advanced Disposal will charge the city, you the resident for this service.  I personally think that the Doraville resident should not have to pay for this service.  The service of curbside recycling should pay for itself.  It should generate revenue through the sale of the recyclable product, glass, plastics, paper and metal. The city should do this job itself through it’s maintenance department. The city has the manpower and the location to do this job.  The city would have to purchase a truck and recycle bins for each household.  The sale of the product should offset the cost of these expenses.  If you agree with this line of thinking email me, and also let your representatives in your area know.

 Thanks, Clint

Trust and Accountability of our Mayor and City Council

October 21, 2007 · Leave a Comment

As your councilman, I want our Mayor and City Council to be accountable for its actions.

They should respect you, the resident on the agenda and answer the questions that have been presented before them politely and thoroughly.  If our Mayor and Council are not held accountable, then how can we trust them?  We need trust and accountability.
